It was such a great experience to ride in NYC with Jimmy, he is not only a great rider but he also knows all the best rides around the city. He takes care of everything and the BMC bikes are great!””Thanks Jimmy!”Paulo Renoldi - Sao Paulo - Brazil
I was in New York on holidays for 6 days in August. I ride 3-4 times a week in Sydney and a friend suggested contacting Jimmy about going for a ride in New York. A couple of emails and a call later (type of ride, time, distance, bike measurements, pedal set-up) and I had a ride lined-up so I didn’t have to join the girlfriend shopping for a day. I was staying on W14th/9th and so on the morning of my ride it was a 500m walk to meet Jimmy. I’ve rented road bikes overseas previously with mixed results in terms of quality of ride and so I had a big smile on my face when I saw the latest BMC SLR01 set up to my specs just waiting for my pedals. The plan was a 3hr roll and within 30-40mins we were crossing a bridge riding through parks and then out onto rolling roads with generous shoulders and greenery both sides – we were actually riding sections of the New York IM course. Another hour on we stopped at a pretty cool coffee place in the middle of nowhere for a drink and snack and then we headed back to Manhattan. The ride totally changed my view on New York – I had done 3 hrs on what felt like safer roads than heading south from Bondi to Waterfall. Jimmy was a great guide too – talk when you want to, push when you want to, and get towed when you need to! I’m heading back to the US in November for work and with a few days spare in in New York and I’ve already locked in The Domestique for a couple of rides including a longer 5 hr ride north of the city. Highly recommend packing your shoes and pedals and giving Jimmy/The Domestique and email or call if you are heading to New YorkDets - Sydney - Australia
I travel a lot for work which can be terribly disruptive to the riding schedule. On my third trip to NYC in October this year a mate told me about Jimmy’s new venture, which sounded the perfect way to keep some mileage in the legs and avoid the hotel gym. On the morning after our arrival from Sydney we met Jimmy at Rapha and he was already set up…. Top of the line BMC bikes set up to match personal preferences, test helmets, spare jackets, and ride provisions. As impressive, the domestique can also serve up a cracking flat white which is not an easy find in NY. Travelling with a colleague and keen rider, we opted for the jet lag friendly 80km ride to Piermont. Starting from the Meatpacking District and up the West side bike path we crossed the George Washington Bridge (with great views of Manhattan) and into New Jersey. From there it was real countryside, good roads and little traffic. It was hard to imagine we were in the Big Apple and far more relaxing than getting through my usual ride out of Sydney on a Saturday morning. We stopped for the odd picture and coffee in Piermont (in the footsteps of Lance and Zabel based on pictures in the café window). Jimmy jumped on the front on the way home and before long we were back in the big smoke. Just in time for another flat white… A ride with the domestique is now on the must do list for NYC. No way I could feel more pampered than riding with Jimmy! My bike was clean, well-maintained and ready to go upon arrival as well as all the other riding necessities - bottles, snack, helmet, etc. Jimmy made our ride completely stress free. Thanks Jimmy for taking good care of us!Jay CaldwellCaldwell Toyota Scion,
“The Domestique is a top-notch outfitter. When a friend and I visited NYC this fall, we were met at first light by Jimmy, our guide for the day. He had us all sized up on new, high-end BMC bikes with helmets and water bottles ready to go. The convenient location put us quickly onto a protected river course and provided easy access to a scenic route through parts of New Jersey – at our pace and allotted time. We returned to hot coffee and pastries at the store. A very memorable ride! Hope to be back next April.” Doug – Redondo Beach, CA
As a keen amateur cyclist, I arranged for a bike ride with the Domestique during a recent visit to NYC with my family. The unique experience completely amazed me. Jimmy met me at my hotel with a BMC SLR01 set up for my measurements, and a saddle to match the one I use at home. After crossing the George Washington Bridge we rode out to Piermont where we stopped for a much needed coffee break, before heading back into NYC. All up the ride took about 3.5 hours. Jimmy was an excellent guide and was more than happy to travel at my pace.I highly recommend this experience to any keen cyclist who is visiting NYC.Andrew Vette - Australia
I would have not expected that there are so awesome places to bike so close to Manhattan, but Jimmy from The Domestique blew our mind away! Jimmy took me and my fiancé to a biking tour to Nyack, NY from Tribeca, Manhattan. The views were beautiful along Hudson River and charming in the little towns visited during the trip. Also, the bikes Jimmy provided use were top notch carbon road bikes in perfect condition.Jimmy was a very courteous and flexible guide. For instance, we had no troubles of rescheduling our trip due to bad weather on the date of the original booking. Jimmy was also very adaptable to all our other wishes like average biking speed to preferred refreshments on the way.I wholeheartedly recommend Jimmy and The Domestique for any biking enthusiast visiting in New York City. Thanks Jimmy again!Matias Käkelä - Helsinki

Jimmy (The Domestique) provides a unique and professional guided cycling tour of Manhattan, and surrounding countryside - the only limit being the time you have available. From the easy on-line booking, to meeting at the hotel I was staying at in mid-town with a top of the line BMC bike early one morning, it was a very simple way to have a great ride and see the sights of Manhattan and New Jersey. We rode to the west side cycle path alongside the Hudson River, up to and over the George Washington Bridge (a memorable view!), and up the west side of the Hudson to Piermont and Nyack, with amazing scenary, a few hills to test the legs, and a great stop for coffee and food before the return journey. We even had a few laps of Central Park on our return, before riding in the downtown traffic (an experience!) back to the Hotel. I was totally unaware of the amazing rides available in New York, and if you are a cyclist and are visiting the city (as I was), you should definitely contact Jimmy for an amazing riding experience. Highly recommended!Andrew Scott - Australia
A great New York experience the river bike path across into the Pallisades and then back along River Road. I didn’t realise such great rides existed in New York.I hire bikes in a number of cities around the world and typically you get an old Aluminium bike that is not well serviced and you are never sure if the extra’s you have ordered will be on the bike. The Domestique had a brand new BMC SLR01 set up and ready to go for me so that we could leave on the ride 5 minutes after I arrived.Jimmy is a great guide managed the pace and safety considerations wellI would recommend the experience to anyone looking for a real ride.Paul Mitchell - Australia!
Great ride, thank you jimmy. Jimmy was all time behind us and was very helpful in all the way. The ride to NJ it’s a great semi pro route.Rodrigo - Mexico City
Jimmy was a great tour guide of NYC, the river and NJ, after a hectic couple of days of work. My wife and I wanted to see the sites from a different vantage point, we brought our riding gear, Jimmy fixed our shoes and off we went. We wanted to do more than the usual Central Park ride, on 20 year old bikes from he side of the road. His BMC Carbon bikes were great. Jimmy was patient coaching us and a consummate professional. Ironman or a recreational rider, he can cater to you! A must do for any visitor.Visited May 2015Clay Beltran - Texas
I was in NYC for a short three days. To take half a day out for a River ride with Jimmy was the best thing I did. Not only was it a great ride, the experience and attention that Jimmy brings to the tour just sets this above other tours (cycling or not) that you can do in the Big Apple.Thumbs up all the way. For MAMILs like me, this is just about the best thing ever!Visited May 2015Peter Ko - Sydney Australia
I had an anniversary celebration trip with my wife to NY for a couple of days... I thought of something different since we go to NY on average once per year; but the tour James gave us exceeded our expectations. At the end of our trip after doing shows, shopping, and fine dining the bike ride was by far the best part of our trip. The “loop” selected by James was perfect and although my wife is a beginner in cycling James was patient and kept a perfect pace in order for us to complete the 70 kms loop. The bikes are great, BMC Carbon with S-Ram Red... had a mount for my Garmin, nice helmets... Everything top notch. Now I have a new reason to visit NY!Visited June 2015Humberto Guzman - Mexico
We were spending close to 2 weeks in New York visiting our daughter and after spotting an article in The Financial Review I contacted Jimmy to arrange a ride. The weather for the initial day we had scheduled looked a bit wet so Jimmy happily fitted me in later that week. The ride along the Hudson river and then across the Washington bridge to follow the Hudson river through a national park was very enjoyable. Jimmy matches his speed to whatever you are able to do and makes it a lovely way to ride with no pressure to push yourself unless you wish to do so. Great bikes that are well maintained add o the enjoyment. Thanks again Jimmy, Regards David, Perth WAVisited May 2015David Page - Perth, Australia.
In New York for a Conference pining for my bike and I found Jimmy Phillips. Wow , he is a dynamic biker who took me on a great early morning 3 hour ride to Nyack ....a mix of enjoyable climbs and scenic rolling terrain. The new BMC bike was set up perfectly ,a joy to ride and matched my Pinarello. Looking forward to another ride on next visit.Visited June 2015Trevor - Adelaide, Australia.
I had a great ride with Jimmy today through George Washington Bridge to the river road in New Jersey. It was an awesome joinery, one that you would never forget! I will definitely try out different routes next time:) Also Jimmy took me to a great cafe for some nice pour over coffee to finish the adventure ! What more can you ask for !!!Visited June 2015Samson Huang - Taiwan.
Had a great morning ride with Jimmy, through Central park out over the GW Bridge to New Jersey. The scenery along the river was beautiful, total contrast to the Manhattan environment. Coffee and cake at The Market was awesome. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a ride whilst in Manhattan, its a great mix of city and country riding.Jimmy was a fantastic host, arrived at the agreed time and nothing was too hard.We would definitely do this again next time in NYCThanks Jimmy for a memorable experiencePaul and Kathy - Adelaide, Australia.Visited July 2015
